More portrait photography; visit Stephen Locke Portraits
Just for fun I am posting a couple short animations I made from still photographs earlier this year. Top one is a receding thunderstorm over downtown Kansas City June 27th.
-Left. Still image animation of a highly electified summer storm just west of St Joseph, MO. in July.
Speaking of tornados I chased this little fellow around my portrait studio the other day. I'm not sure who had more fun, him or me!

As I write this Kansas City is drying out after last weeks inland tropical storm. I could not resist attempting to photograph the brief tornados in western Johnson County Kansas on Friday. By the time I made my position the tornado had lifted and the updraft traveled over my head as I sat in the Kansas Speedway parking lot. As the rotation subsided the air actually became very quiet. The core began to precipitate leaves and small debris. This was peculiar as the Speedway acreage is essentially devoid of trees. The debris gently settling overhead had been lofted by my storm when it was in Desoto a few miles away. The chase experience was comprised primarily of rush-hour traffic and rain so I returned with no compelling images. This tornadic storm was likely the last one of the year and I am resigned to the fact that chase season could be over for 2008. I'm already Looking forward to the spring storms!
